There is always an ongoing conflict of gift or cash. However,
the search for gifting ideas is less as people now prefer to give cash
instead of a gift. I have a constant war in my mind for the same. When a kid
gets cash; most of the parents spend on themselves or other house expenses. Maybe
I am one of those who prefer buying and accepting gifts over cash. Here are my
view points for the same.
Allows the Kid to Explore
The toys and games industry is very huge and we cannot
buy all of them. Hence, the idea of gifting allows the kid to acquire something
which their parents have not bought. We avoid purchasing certain toys; thinking
he does not have interest or we just don’t want to buy that. For eg; I have a hoopla
ring for my 2 year old; to be frank I would have never bought it so early
but it was a gift. Now she plays with it of course not as hoopla but as various
other games. She makes her imaginary boat, ties band around the ring and starts
a carousel and similar things. Her little mind is bringing out unique ideas
from different toys.
Creates Memories
My little one remembers not only the gift given by the
person but also the gift bag given to her. The important role of creating
memories is well taken off; this would have not been possible if someone just
gave cash to me for any of her occasions.
Better Understand Kids Interest
We do not posses any super powers to know each and every
detail of our kid. There are things about our kids which we are not aware of. We
always bought her cricket set but we realised she was more interested in
hockey. It was gifted to her; we would have not known this fact. We gifted our
friend’s son skates and it was a thing which he always wanted but he never
shared with anyone. His parents were really thankful to us.
Brings Smile
One of the most important aspect; it brings SMILE and joy.
The whole concept of gift brings smile to the little one’s face. A gift
wrapping paper around the pencil brings bigger smile to kids instead of Rs1000
cover. We as adults are also curious to
open the nicely wrapped gift papers so imagine the kid’s excitement.
Shows Love and Affection
When you buy a gift; there is a complete process; you
think of that person; his likes, dislikes, age, looks etc and finally take your
decision. Your heart and mind is involved. In this world of whats app where
phone calls are replaced by what’s app messages; it is very important to take
some time out for the loved ones
Lastly; I would like to add it always good to encourage
your child in the gifting process; maybe you can ask him to make a small card
or a note; or even help in packing. It creates an impact. Happy Gifting!
